fables

The Rus is a world that is the Homelands version of Russia. It first appears in Fables #37 — "The Saint George Syndrome: Chapter Two of Homelands Fables."

Description

The Rus is a mythical version of Russia[6][7] and home to many Slavic Fables. Baba Yaga;[2] her knights Bright Day,[3] Dark Night[3] and Radiant Sun;[3] the Mice and the Cat,[3] and Ivan Durak all came from this world.[4]

The Rus is an enormous world and is divided into a dozen administrative Imperial districts that do not get along with each other, and crossing from one gateway (which leads to another world in the Homelands) to another takes several months.[3] Mundane Russia is approximately one-sixteenth the size of The Rus.[7]

History

The Literal Prose Page spent years in The Rus during her quest for knowledge in the Homelands.[5]

The Rus was controlled by Baba Yaga,[2] until she was captured in the Battle of Fabletown.[8] Her knights, Bright Day, Radiant Sun and Dark Night, also patrol the lands until they are beheaded by Boy Blue.[3]

During Boy Blue's exploits in the Homelands, he journeys across The Rus.[3]

In the Imperial conference where the Adversary determines the final fate of their enemies in Fabletown, Bright Day represents The Rus in absence of Baba Yaga.[2]
