No one orders Bright Day, the White Rider of the Dawn, to pass by!
Bright Day to Boy Blue, Fables #37 — "The Saint George Syndrome: Chapter Two of Homelands Fables"

Bright Day, the White Rider of the Dawn, is a Fable knight who is one of Baba Yaga's servants in The Rus, along with his brothers, Radiant Sun and Dark Night. He first appears in Fables #37 — "The Saint George Syndrome: Chapter Two of Homelands Fables."

History

Background

Bright Day and his brothers, Radiant Sun and Dark Night, were created by Baba Yaga[3] and were put to work as knights in the Emperor's army in The Rus. They are the greatest martial powers in The Rus and have slaughtered entire armies on the field.[1]

Beheaded

While on a mission in the Homelands, Boy Blue, with the Vorpal Blade and while wearing the Witching Cloak, is able to slice through Bright Day's shield, shatter his sword, and behead Bright Day in mere moments. However, because his existence is magically tied to Baba Yaga's own, as long as she still lives, so does he.[1]

Imperial conference

Bright Day, despite currently being merely a severed head, is permitted to participate in the Imperial conference where the Adversary determines the final fate of their enemies in Fabletown. At the commencement of the conference, the Snow Queen announces the name of each participant along with their respective roles within the Empire, and informs everyone that Bright Day is representing the world of The Rus in absence of Baba Yaga.[4] During the conference, the Nome King inquires with Bright Day about his lack of appetite. Bright Day calmly clarifies that eating has been a challenge since he was decapitated.[5]

Business Office

While trapped in the Business Office, Baba Yaga calls her three "sons" across the worlds to her side, restoring them once again, in body and might. Nevertheless, despite the enhancement of her magical abilities and the support of her newly revived knights, she cannot discover a means to escape the Business Office.[3]

Ultimately, Bright Day and his brothers[2] fade from existence[1] when Bufkin uses the Vorpal Blade to behead Baba Yaga,[2] since their existence is connected to her.[1]
