The witch is a human Fable who lives on the 13th Floor of the Woodland building in Fabletown in New York City. She debuts in Fables #19 — "Out of the Woods: Chapter One, March of the Wooden Soldiers."
History
Background
The witch is a member of the magical group known as the 13th Floor magicians,[1] a group of witches and sorcerers that reside on the namesake floor of The Woodland building.[2]
Bigby's hunt
When Lily's severed head,[3] glamoured to look like that of Snow White,[4] is found on the front steps of The Woodland, the witch is among the Fable spectators who have gathered around, horrified by the gruesome sight before them.[3]
Battle of Fabletown
Upon her arrival at The Woodland to ask for sanctuary in Fabletown, "Red Riding Hood" is met with a crowd of curious Fables, including the witch.[5]
As Fabletown gears up for battle with the wooden soldiers, Snow White takes a moment to brief the witch and the other 13th Floor members on their roles in the upcoming fight. She explains that while their impressive abilities would be useful in battle, they are needed to ensure that the mundys remain unaware of what is happening: They must prevent the mundys from noticing or remembering anything that occurs there in the next few days. Snow makes it clear that they have been recruited for an officially declared emergency and, as a result, Fabletown will not be compensating them for their work; they must work without pay until the crisis is over.[1] Their leader,[6] Frau Totenkinder, agrees to this arrangement and states that they are willing to assist however they can.[1]
Mayoral election
During the election for Fabletown's new mayor, the witch is seen at the polling station, departing empty-handed with her purse in hand from the table where the ballot boxes are located, while the rest of the voters are standing in line, ready to drop off their ballots; indicating that she has already submitted her vote.[7]
Death of a colleague
As Beast and Cinderella examine the corpse of Mister Kadabra, who was found murdered at the Farm, the witch along with a handful of other magicians from the 13th Floor observe from a distance.[8]
