Beware, travelers! The jungle's darkest depths hide terrifying beasts!
Kaa to Owl and Pussy Cat, Fairest #29 — "Sail Away: Chapter Three of The Clamour for Glamour"

Kaa is an Indian python Fable who resides at the Farm. He debuts in Fables #7 — "The Guns of Fabletown: Part Two of Animal Farm."

History

Goldilocks' revolution

Kaa is among the Fables who align themselves with Goldilocks' rebels in their scheme to overthrow the human residents of Fabletown. They participate in a hunt for Reynard the Fox, to keep the latter from sounding the alarm. While searching for the cunning fox, King Louie questions Kaa about whether he has observed him. The python, respectfully addressing Louie as "old king," acknowledges that he has not seen Reynard, but he is certain that the fox will eventually become ensnared in his coils. However, King Louie asserts with confidence that he has the entire Bandarlog combing the forest for Reynard and advises the snake to act wisely if he wishes to reach him before anyone else.[1]

The glamour crusade

The python later assists Owl as the latter takes his beloved wife, Pussy Cat, on a tailor-made little journey through the Great Woods of the Farm, with Kaa and King Noble playing the parts of animals in the jungle. As Noble lets out a mighty roar, Kaa descends from a tree towards them, playfully advising the two "travelers" to exercise caution, as there are "terrifying beasts" lurking in the dark recesses of the jungle.[3]

One month later, Kaa attends the prestigious Lottery drawing for glamours, holding a Lottery ticket in his mouth. Sadly, he is not among the lucky winners. Later, Noble is in attendance when the glamour prices are bestowed upon the winners.[4]
